Santiago, Dominican Republic — PROCIGAR, the Association of the Dominican Cigar Manufacturers, celebrates the Procigar Festival’s twelfth edition.
The world-renowned Procigar members are proud to announce the twelfth annual Procigar Festival, where over 450 guests from more than 20 countries will be welcomed in the Cigar Country. Attendees include suppliers, retailers, consumers and industry associates from all over the world that gather to celebrate the Procigar Festival, Dominican Republic’s most important event in the tobacco industry.
The Festival starts on February 17th in the luxurious Casa de Campo Resort, where guests will be able to relax at the beach and enjoy the country’s beautiful weather. On Monday February 18th, a cigar seminar will take place while sailing on a catamaran to Saona Island.
On Tuesday, February 19th, Tabacalera de García, the biggest cigar factory in the world, will host a tour with a guided visit to their facilities and a delicious lunch by the ocean. In the afternoon, guests will depart to Santiago, the Cigar Capital of the World, for three days, where they will be able to participate in guided tours of the following cigar factories and tobacco fields: Quesada Cigars, La Aurora, General Cigar Dominicana, Tabacalera Palma, De Los Reyes Cigars, PDR Cigars, Tabacalera La Alianza – E.P. Carrillo, La Flor Dominicana, Davidoff Cigars, as well as a visit to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation and House of Dreams.
Attendees will also have the option to choose other exciting activities while in Santiago, including the 8th annual Procigar Poker Tournament to benefit local charitable institutions, a beach day at The Ocean Club in the north coast and a single malt whisky and cigar pairing seminar. Also, Procigar Festival will host a second edition of the Official Qualification Tournament for the Cigar Smoking World Championship (CSWC) 2019 in Dominican Republic.
A wonderful goodie bag is gifted to festival guests upon their arrival. This special bag retails for over US$350.00 and includes a limited special edition cigar box, ashtray, cigar accessories like cutters and lighters, polo shirt, hat, among other spectacular items.
On Wednesday February 20th, the Welcome Dinner Party will be held at the Jardín Cabrera Vidal, where all guests will receive an exclusive cigar box manufactured by Zanwill International and enjoy live music by Tomy and Fellé Vega. During this evening, Cigar Aficionado will recognize Ernesto Pérez Carrillo for winning Best Cigar of the Year with the E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic cigar. After a succulent dinner made by El Tablón Latino, the guests will join the famous merengue contest to the
beat of Rose Mateo’s Band, where the winner gets to choose 50 cigars manufactured by one of the Procigar members.
The White Dinner Party will take place at Santiago’s Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración on Thursday, February 21st, where the attendees will be welcomed by a local cellist, Raymond Felix and a live painting by René Peña. Participants will also enjoy a unique atmosphere with the music of Impar group, DJ Poché and a wonderful view of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. All these followed by an outstanding dinner made by Limón Catering and a wonderful cigar box manufactured by International Packaging.
The Gala Dinner Party on February 22nd will be celebrated at the Centro Español, a private Spanish Club, founded in 1965. On this night, guests will be welcomed with a special cigar box manufactured by Vrijdag Premium Printing, and will experience a delightful dinner by Camp David Catering, continuing with an exciting acrobatic show and live music by La Banda. The traditional auction of unique items benefiting the Voluntariado Jesús con los Niños and the Hospicio San Vicente de Paúl, non-profit organizations dedicated to helping ill children and low-income elders will be once again part of this evening. The event will culminate with an after party to the sound of DJ Luz, Trinity Music, dancers and much more.
